Triumphs and failures of celebrating the Christmas season

Starting this blog is something I've wanted to do for a while now.. But I just wasn't sure what I would write about! I decided today that I would just write my thoughts about my days and if no one reads it - that's fine! However, I want a place to put my pictures other than facebook and twitter!

I guess I'll start with the Christmas Season that is upon us! Christmas is my favorite time of the year! As my step-mom put it, "There is just something about the lights"! She's right - something about the lights makes everything a little bit happier! We went out and bought our Christmas tree about a week ago and I can honestly say that it is the most GORGEOUS tree we have ever had! We switched from our usual blue lights and put on classic white lights with a really pretty tree skirt that Nita's mom made and it is just as if Christmas has exploded in our living room!

Another fun thing that has happened recently is our dog, Bear got a new Christmas Tie!! I know, we are those ridiculous people who dress our dog up for holidays, but I swear we aren't! This is a one time thing - unless you count the jacket I bought him last winter! (oops!) Anyway, he is just the most adorable little dog in the whole world! 

As you can see, he has no idea what to do with himself! 

I just returned from school a little over a week ago for Christmas break and right before I came home, me and my two roommates went to a tacky Christmas sweater party at another local school! It was too much fun! Me and my roommates spent quite a while coming up with our outfits and two of us ended up cutting sweatshirts in order to make dresses! Our other roommate, had light up reindeer ears! Needless to say, we were the best dressed! Haha! Either way, it was definitely an interesting night with the three of us! (it always is)!

One last fun thing is.....

                 Me and my little sister have really been getting into the Christmas spirit this year and so of course we had to make a gingerbread house... RIGHT? no, not right. We FAILED! and when I say failed, I mean we tried to put it up four different times and as one of my friends described it, the final result "looks like a tornado hit it"! Oh well, we had fun while it lasted but we certainly do not have a gorgeous gingerbread house to show all of our friends and family.. (we did learn that the gingerbread in the kit was quite delicious though!) 

Yes, it is a Barbie gingerbread house... called "Barbie's Dream Gingerbread house" 

OHHH! did I mention that I will soon be an aunt!! I am just too excited about that and I cannot wait!!!!! Just a few more days (or weeks) and the new little baby will be here!! I couldn't be happier for my sister and her husband!! 

Needless to say, this Christmas season/break is getting off to such a great start! I can't believe how amazing my friends and family are and how blessed I am!
